De inzendingen (12)

Het is alweer het einde van de maand en dus tijd om jullie de inzendingen van de Country Calendar te laten zien. Dit keer niet alleen blokken en miniquiltjes, maar ook tops en zelfs al een AFFO! Het is de laatste update hier op de weblog, maar natuurlijk mag je je foto's blijven insturen, die worden namelijk ook volgend jaar elke maand op de website geplaatst.

Vergeet ook niet een kijkje te nemen in het 'gewone' fotoalbum, want er staan weer een leuke nieuwe inzendingen bij van Erica en Annet.

En dan even jullie speciale aandacht voor deze inzending. Deze doos werd gemaakt door Conny, speciaal om haar maandquiltjes in op te bergen. Is dat geen geweldig idee?

Country Calendar BOM - Blok 12

Het is december, de laatste maand van het jaar. Wat is het snel voorbij gegaan! In januari zijn we met de Country Calendar BOM gestart met het idee dat er wellicht een 100-tal quiltsters, voornamelijk uit Nederland en België, zouden deelnemen. Maar met onze inschatting bleken we er helemaal naast te zitten, want honderden deelneemsters uit ruim 50 verschillende landen wachtten elke maand vol ongeduld op het nieuwe patroontje. De eerste foto van het januariblok ontvingen we al binnen een paar uur en vele foto's volgden. Wat een genot om naar al jullie mooie blokken te kijken en jullie gezellige mails te lezen!

Nu is het tijd voor het laatste van de 12 blokken, een blokje dat wij heel toepasselijk vonden voor de lange, donkere dagen van december. Voor de quiltsters die de blokken graag samenvoegen tot 1 kalenderquilt: de instructies hiervoor vind je vanaf vandaag ook op onze website.

Dan rest ons niets dan jullie heel veel plezier te wensen met het maken van dit laatste blokje en we kijken natuurlijk ook deze keer weer uit naar jullie ingezonden blokken/quilts!

PS. Al meermaals kregen we de vraag of we volgend jaar weer een BOM doen. Wij denken dat we eerst iedereen de tijd moeten geven om de quilt(jes) af te maken, maar een nieuw idee broedt al. Niet voor januari, maar voor halverwege 2010. Vergeet dus zeker niet om onze website, nieuwsbrief of web-log in de gaten te houden.

December, the last month of the year. Time did really fly! We have started the Country Calendar BOM in January, presuming around 100 quilters, mostly from The Netherlands and Belgium would join. Our presuming turned out to be wrong, because hundreds of quilters from over 50 countries were waiting impatiently for the new pattern every month. We already received the first pictures of the January-block after a few hours and many picture followed after. What a joy to watch all your beautiful blocks and to read your nice e-mails!

And here is the last of the 12 blocks. A block we thought applicable to the long, dark days of December. For the quilters who want to assemble all blocks into 1 quilt: you will find the instructions on our website as of today.

Then we have no choice but to wish you lots of fun making this final block and (of course) we are looking forward to your mails and pictures of the blocks/quilts.

PS. A frequently asked question is: do you start another BOM next year. We think we have to give everyone the possibility to finish all the blocks/quilt first, but a new idea is 'bubbling'. Not for January, but for halfway 2010. So do not forget to check our website, newsletter and blog to be kept informed!

Pfff... wat een rommel is het hier! Ik ga vandaag maar eens druk aan de slag om al deze dozen uit te pakken.

Maar eerst een log, want de inzendingen van de BOM wil ik jullie niet onthouden! Wat zijn er weer een prachtige blokken gemaakt. Dames, chapeau!

Overmorgen (ja, zo snel al!) is het tijd voor het laatste patroontje van deze BOM. Nog 2 nachtjes slapen dus. Zijn jullie al nieuwsgierig? ;o)

Pfff... it is a mess over here! I will have to unpack and tidy up a lot today.

But first a post, because I do not want to deny you the BOM! Beautiful blocks are made. Ladies, chapeau!

The day after tomorow (yes, that soon!) the last pattern of the BOM will be released. So you have to wait and sleep 2 more nights. Are you curious already? ;o)

Country Calendar BOM - Blok 11 + inzendingen

Lieve quiltsters, het is nu november en dat betekent dat we aan het voorlaatste blokje van de BOM zijn gekomen. Na het herfstige tafereeltje van vorige maand is het nu de beurt aan de winter, want die is immers in aantocht. Wij hebben het roodborstje al een paar keer in de tuin gezien, op zoek naar eten. Daarom deze maand dit schattige roodborstje. En vergeten jullie niet al wat vogelvoer in de tuin te zetten? Zo kunnen de vogels al een kleine reserve opbouwen en gaan zij sterk en gezond de winter in!

En hebben jullie de inzendingen van deze maand al in het fotoalbum zien staan? Ik heb ze hieronder nog eens allemaal bij elkaar gezet. Wat een prachtige blokken weer. Bedankt voor de foto's dames!

Dear quilters. It is November now and here is the last but one block of the BOM. After the Autumnal image of last month, we now start with a Wintery one, cause Winter is approaching. We have already seen the robin a few times in our garden, looking for food. Therefor this nice robin block this month. And do not forget to start feeding the birds already, so they get stronger and healthier before the cold winter comes!

Country Calendar BOM - Blok 10

Het einde van de Country Calendar nadert. Begint het bij jullie ook zo te kriebelen om hem af te maken? Maar voor we zover zijn is het eerst tijd voor het 10e blok. Oktober staat voor ons voor herfst en Halloween. Hoewel hier in Nederland en België Halloween niet echt gevierd wordt, zijn de sfeer en de versieringen best geestig ;o) Deze maand daarom een blokje dat hier perfect bij aansluit. Veel maakplezier!

 

The completion of the Country Calendar is approaching. Does it start 'itching' already to assemble it? But  we have to make block 10 first. October means Autumn and Halloween to us. Although Halloween is not really celebrated in Holland and Belgium, we think the atmosphere and decorations are 'spell' bound ;o) and this month's block links perfectly to it. Enjoy!

Dat de meeste quiltsters deze maand al volledig in herfstsferen waren, is goed te zien aan alle inzendingen van de BOM. Prachtige blokken in mooie warme herfstkleuren, afgewisseld met fellere of juist zachtere blokjes. Stuk voor stuk weer mooie inzendingen, bedankt dames! De foto's staan ook in het fotoalbum op onze website, waar je trouwens niet alleen foto's van de BOM vindt, maar ook (nieuwe) foto's van andere quilts en workshops die werden ingezonden. Pak er een kopje thee of koffie bij, geniet en laat je inspireren!

The exhibits of the BOM clearly show us that most quilters are in the mood for Autumn. Beautiful blocks made in warm autumn colours alternated with brighter or more pastel colours. All gorgeous exhibits. Thank you ladies! You will find all pictures in the photo gallery on our website. Not only pictures of the BOM are to be found there, but also (new) exhibits of quilts and workshops. So take a cup a tea or coffee, enjoy  and be inspired!

Nog meer mandjes...

Het is weer tijd voor woensdag-mandjesdag, maar deze keer geen mandjes van stof, maar mandjes met stof. Lezers van het eerste uur weten misschien dat ik 4 mandjes heb waar ik mijn projecten in stop. Dit betekent dat ik ook maar aan 4 dingen tegelijk bezig mag zijn van mezelf. Maar het zal geen verrassing zijn als ik zeg dat er inmiddels 4 mandjes bijgekocht zijn en dat er zelfs ook meerdere projecten in één mandje zitten...

Op deze manier raak ik het overzicht helemaal kwijt en er ligt zoveel dat ik van gekheid niet meer weet waar ik eerst aan moet werken, met als gevolg dat ik straks helemaal geen steek meer gedaan krijg. Tijd om op te ruimen dus! Een paar projecten zijn in een tas gedaan, die gaan tijdelijk de kast in. Er bleven 6 mandjes over, OK, 2 meer dan gepland, maar het is toch weer wat overzichtelijker dan het was.

Welke projecten zitten er nu in de mandjes? Allereerst mijn borduurwerk en Sjaan. Dit zijn 2 dingen die ik makkelijk op kan pakken en waar ik niet te veel moet nadenken (in tegenstelling tot mijn eigen ontwerpen, waarbij ik toch constant nadenk hoe ik het maak, omschrijf in het patroon, etc). Dan natuurlijk de Île aux fleurs en mijn mandjesquilt. En tot slot 2 'geheime' projecten: de BOM en de Mini Quilt Club (verstopt onder het quiltje, want dit moet natuurlijk een verrassing blijven voor de leden!)

En als je goed kijkt op de foto zie je al een klein voorproefje van de stof die ik bij de BOM heb gekocht. Een prachtige stof van 3 Sisters voor Moda. Misschien is hij niet zo goed te zien in het mandje, dus hier komt 'ie nog eens ;o)

It is 'Basket Wednesday' again, but this time I do not want to show you baskets made of fabric, but basket filled with fabric. Long term readers now that I have 4 baskets for my projects. This means that I allow myself to work on maximum 4 quilts. But it will not surprise you when I tell you that I have bought 4 more baskets and that several projects were put in one basket.

In this way I lost survey completely and I did not know anymore on which project I wanted to work first. The result was that I hardly did any stitch anymore. Time to organize! I put some projects in a bag and they are stored in my closet temporary. 6 Baskets remained, okay, 2 more than planned, but it is conveniently arranged now.

Which projects are in the baskets? First my embroidery and the Dear Jane. Two things that are easy to do without much focussing (unlike my own designs. Then I have to focus all the time on how to make the quilt, how to write the pattern, etc). Then there is of course the île aux fleurs and the quilt with the baskets. Finally 2 'top secret' projects: the BOM and the Mini Quilt Club (hidden under a small quilt, because this is a surprise for the participants!)

When you take a good look at the picture you will see a little sneak peek of the fabric I bought to complet the BOM. A beautiful fabric by 3 Sisters for Moda. Perhaps you cannot see it clearly in the basket, so here it is again ;o)

Country Calendar BOM - Blok 9

Het is altijd leuk om op de eerste van de maand 's morgensvroeg het bezoekersaantal op onze website te zien. Want een flink aantal quiltsters wacht al vol ongeduld op het nieuwe BOM-blokje. En hoewel ik altijd vroeg opsta om het patroontje online te zetten, zijn er velen al veel vroeger op om te zien of het er al is ;o) Mams en ik genieten hier met volle teugen van. Wat is het toch leuk om dit te organiseren!

En ik kan jullie vertellen: hij staat er inmiddels op hoor: het 9e blokje, dit keer met een thema dat al een beetje tegen de herfst aanleunt. Heel veel plezier ermee!

It is always fun looking at the number of visitors at our website early in the morning on the first day of the month. A great number of quilters is waiting impatiently for the new BOM-block. And although I get up early to upload the pattern, many of you are much earlier to see if the pattern is there already ;o) Mams and I enjoy ourselfs thoroughly. It is so great to organize this!

And I can tell you: it is online: the 9th block, and this time the subject leans towards Autumn. Wish you lots of fun!

Het einde van de maand nadert alweer met rasse schreden en het is nog maar een weekje wachten op het nieuwe BOM blok. Maar voor het zover is, is het tijd om de inzendingen te laten zien. Er zijn weer prachtige blokjes gemaakt, in echte zomertinten. Bedankt voor de foto's dames!

Er zijn honderden deelneemsters aan de BOM en hoe graag ik het ook zou willen, het is onmogelijk om al jullie blogs te volgen. Dus staat jouw blokje er niet bij? Mail me dan een foto (of laat een berichtje achter dat de foto op je blog te vinden is).

Country Calendar BOM - Blok 8 + inzendingen

Ondanks dat het zomervakantie is gaan wij natuurlijk gewoon door met de Country Calendar BOM. Vanaf vandaag kun je het nieuwe patroon downloaden van onze website, het 8e blok alweer! Veel plezier ermee!

Dat het vakantie is, is niet te merken aan het aantal inzendingen, want jullie zijn allemaal druk aan bezig geweest met het juli blokje. Het resultaat hiervan is een hele verzameling prachtige blokken en quiltjes, de één nog mooier dan de ander. Frisse zomerkleurtjes of mooie pasteltinten, er komt vanalles voorbij en het is leuk om de verschillende resultaten te zien. Dames, bedankt weer voor jullie enthousiasme en de foto's!

The holidays are not noticeable when looking at the number of exhibits we have received. You all have been very busy sewing the July block. De tijd gaat toch snel... Het is alweer 1 juli en dus tijd voor het nieuwe patroon van de BOM. Je kunt het vanaf vandaag downloaden van onze website.

Over een ontzettend gezellige week...

De workshops voor deze zomer zitten er weer op. Het is een ontzettend gezellige week geweest. Ank, Mieke, Marja, Rineke en Gerd werkten aan de Bird's Spa en het was soms best even zweten om alle steekjes goed te krijgen. Het is leuk om iedereen zo geconcentreerd bezig te zien. Ank en Mieke hadden hun BOM quiltjes meegenomen. Bedankt dames, ik vind het leuk dat ik deze in het echt kon bewonderen.

Inge en Erica kwamen langs voor de Bee. We hebben vooral veel gekletst, maar we hebben natuurlijk nog enkele steekjes gedaan. Erica had een CWD blok mee en Inge maakte een klosje. Zelf heb ik een paar steken aan de Île aux fleurs gedaan, die langzaam maar zeker vordert. Erica had ook de top van de Cotton Country mee, die ik helaas ben vergeten op de foto te zetten. Hij is ontzettend mooi met die rode ruitjes- en streepjesstoffen.

Gerd en Rineke kwamen gisteren weer langs voor de workshop Dresden Plate. We hebben eerst het blok leren tekenen en daarna zijn ze aan de slag gegaan. Rineke koos voor mooie groene stoffen en Gerd ging voor het 'snoepjes'effect ;o) Ze zijn allebei ontzettend mooi en het is leuk om te zien hoe hetzelfde blok er toch zo heel verschillend kan uitzien.

Vandaag vertrekken Philippe en ik richting Mams, want daar vier ik morgen mijn verjaardag ;o)

Fijn weekend!

The summer workshops are over. It has been a very pleasant week. Ank, Mieke, Marja, Rineke and Gerd all worked on the Bird's Spa and it was difficult sometimes to make all the stitches right. It is nice to see everyone work so concentrated. Ank and Mieke brought their BOM quilts. Thank you ladies, I loved to admire them in real.

Inge and Erica came for the Bee. We have chatted a lot, but we also did some stitches. Erica brought a CWD block with her and Inge was making a bobbin block. I have made some stitches on my île aux fleurs quilt, which progresses slowly but surely. Erica also showed the top of the Cotton Country quilt, of which I, unfortunatly, forgot to take a picture. The quilt is very beautiful with red plaids and stripes.

Gerd and Rineke also attended the workshop 'Dresden Plate' yesterday. First I taught them how to draw the block and afterwards they made it. Rineke chose beautiful green fabrics and Gerd prefered the 'candy-look' ;o). The blocks are beautiful and it is nice to see how the same block can look so different.

Today Philippe and I leave to visit Mams for a few days and tomorrow it's my birthday ;o)

Country Calendar BOM - Blok 6

Vanaf vandaag is alweer het 6e blok van de Country Calendar BOM te downloaden van onze website. Laat je een berichtje achter als je het patroon meeneemt?

Velen vroegen ons of wij elke maand een nieuw blok voor de BOM bedenken. Nee, wij hebben alle blokken op voorhand ontworpen en gemaakt. Zo weten we zeker dat we jullie 12 maanden lang elke keer een leuk patroontje kunnen aanbieden!

Ondertussen zijn we zelf bezig met het ineenzetten van de quilttop. Hoe dit eruit gaat zien blijft natuurlijk nog geheim. Voor degenen die de blokken ook in één quilt willen verwerken: de instructies hiervoor krijgen jullie in december.

Many of you asked us if we design a new block for the BOM each month. No, we have designed and made all the blocks in advance. In this way we made it sure we can offer you a nice block every month of this year!

In the meanwhile we are assembling the top. How this will look like will still remain a secret. For those of you who want to make one quilt of all the blocks together: instructions for assembling the top will be given in December.

Ook deze maand zijn er weer veel leuke inzendingen gekomen van de BOM. Dames, bedankt! Wij vinden het ontzettend leuk dat jullie met zoveel enthousiasme aan de Country Calendar BOM werken.

Over enkele dagen is het alweer tijd voor een nieuw blokje. Tot dan kunnen we genieten van alle mooie blokken die tot nu toe zijn ingestuurd. Kijken jullie mee?

Country Calendar BOM - Blok 5

Mei is aangebroken, dus hier is het nieuwe BOM blok. Het vijfde blok alweer, we zijn al bijna op de helft. Deze keer is het een iets bewerkelijker blokje. Veel plezier ermee. Ik ben benieuwd naar jullie blokken!

Over een kleuterklas en de Country Calendar...

Wat hebben een kleuterklas en de Country Calendar BOM met elkaar te maken zul je denken... Het antwoord is heel simpel. Sinds januari leren de kleutertjes in de klas van juf Ankie de maanden aan de hand van onze BOM. Elke maand kijken de kleuters én hun ouders uit naar het nieuwe quiltje. De quiltjes hebben een mooie plaats naast de lentetafel.

Vorige week kwam ook de Paashaas op bezoek in de klas en sindsdien, schrijft Ankie, heet het april-quiltje de Paashaasquilt.

What do a kindergarten and the Country Calendar BOM have in common, you might think... The answer is very simple. Since January the children in Ankie's class learn the months on basis of our BOM. Each month the toddlers and their parents are curious about the new quilt. The mini quilts hang beautifully next to the spring table.

Last week the Easter bunny visited the kindergarten and since then, Ankie writes, the children call the April quilt the 'Easter bunny quilt'.

Ankie, thank you for your stories, the pictures and your enthousiasm!

Country Calendar BOM - Blok 4

Nee, het is geen grap: het is 1 april en dus alweer tijd voor het 4e blok van de Country Calendar BOM. Helemaal in de sfeer van het voorjaar én natuurlijk ook van Pasen. Je vind het patroon op onze website.

Wat zijn er weer veel mooie blokken en quiltjes gemaakt deze maand! Opnieuw veel inzendingen uit verschillende landen. Dames, het is zo leuk om jullie enthousiasme te zien. Bedankt!

Het is fijn om te zien dat er ook nog steeds nieuwe quiltsters bij komen die meedoen aan de BOM. Gezellig! Je kunt de voorbije maanden inhalen of ze later maken, je hoeft je niet te haasten, want de patronen blijven gewoon online staan.

In afwachting van het nieuwe blok (nog één nachtje slapen) kun je genieten van alle nieuwe inzendingen.

Country Calendar BOM - Blok 3

De lente kondigt zich aan en dat zien we aan de verschillende bloemen die hun kopjes weer boven de grond steken. Narcissen, krokussen en natuurlijk tulpen.

Het blok van maart staat dan ook in het teken van de lente. Vanaf vandaag kun je het patroon downloaden van onze website. Veel plezier ermee!

Country Calendar BOM - Blok 2

Het is alweer februari, dus ik ga jullie niet langer in spanning houden. Het tweede blok van de Country Calendar BOM is te downloaden van onze website (kijk bij "Freebies"). Dit blok staat, net als de maand februari, in het teken van valentijnsdag en de liefde.

Veel plezier met het patroon en ik ben heel benieuwd naar jullie blokken!!!

Vandaag het vervolg van de inzendingen. Ik verbaas me over de verscheidenheid van de blokken, terwijl er toch steeds hetzelfde patroon gebruikt is. Heel leuk om te zien!

Heel veel leuke reacties en mails en bovendien ontzettend leuke foto's, dat is wat we kregen naar aanleiding van de Country Calendar BOM. De Russische inzendingen liet ik al zien, maar natuurlijk verdienen ook alle andere inzendingen een plaatsje op de log. Zij zijn allemaal zo leuk!

Het zijn te veel voor 1 post. Daarom vandaag de eerste serie, morgen de rest ;o)

From Russia...

Gisteren kreeg ik een wel heel erg leuke e-mail van Tatyana. Begin deze maand vroeg ze mij of ze onze BOM in het Russisch mocht vertalen voor haar quiltvriendinnen. Ze beloofde me dat ze foto's zou sturen van de gemaakte blokken en gisteren was het zover: ik ontving een mail met 'Works from Russia'. Ze verraste me met 6 foto's van het januari blok. Ik heb de vrijheid genomen de andere twee foto's ook te plaatsen. Allemaal heel verschillend en ontzettend leuk!

Bij het bezoeken van de logs van de maaksters vond ik deze log (<- klik) die over onze BOM gaat. Dames, bedankt voor de ontzettend leuke foto's en jullie enthousiasme!

Yesterday I received a very nice e-mail from Tatyana. Earlier this month she asked me if she could translate our BOM pattern in Russian for her quilt friends. She promised me to send pictures of their finished blocks. I received her e-mail with 'Works from Russia' yesterday. She surprised me with 6 pictures of the January block. I took the liberty to place the other two pictures aswell. They're all very different and really cute!

While visiting the blogs of the makers, I found this blog (<- click) which is about our BOM. Ladies, thank you so much for the pictures of your beautiful blocks and your enthousiasm!

Ellie's Quiltplace Country Calender BOM

HIER IS HIJ DAN!!! Het eerste patroon van onze Blok van de Maand, de 'Ellie's Quiltplace Country Calender'!

Pak je quiltspullen erbij en doe gezellig met ons mee met deze GRATIS Blok van de Maand. Hou je van stitchery, dan kun je deze quilt net als ik stitchen. Maar misschien hou je, net als Mams, meer van applicatie, dan is dat ook mogelijk. Het patroon wordt gegeven voor stitchery, maar is eenvoudig te gebruiken voor applicatie (zie de foto hieronder).

Deze maand krijg je niet alleen het patroon voor het eerste blok, maar ook de instructies voor het maken van de blokken. In december krijg je de instructies voor het maken van de quilt, maar je kunt de blokken natuurlijk ook naar eigen idee verwerken in een quilt.

 

Doe je mee aan onze BOM, plaats dan de bovenstaande afbeelding in de zijbalk van je weblog. Dit doe je door met de rechtermuisknop op de afbeelding te klikken en te kiezen voor 'afbeelding opslaan als...'. Voeg de afbeelding daarna in op je weblog. Heb je geen weblog? Vertel dan al je quiltvriendinnen over de Country Calender BOM.

Misschien vind je het leuk om foto's van je blokken in te sturen. We zullen deze publiceren in het fotoalbum op onze website en eens per maand ook op de weblog.

HERE IT IS!!! The first pattern of our Block of the Month, the 'Ellie's Quiltplace Country Calender'!

Get you quilting materials and join in in this FREE Block of the Month. If you like stitchery, you can stitch it like I did. But perhaps you prefer appliqué (as Mams does) well that is not a problem at all. The pattern is given for stitchery but it can simply be used for appliqué too.

This month we give you the pattern of the first block as well as the instructions for how to assemble the blocks. In December we will give you instructions how the finish the quilt, but of course you can assemble your blocks as you please.

When you join our BOM, please add the image shown here above, in the side column of your blog. You can do this by rightclicking on the image and to choose 'save image as...'. Then publish the image on your blog. You do not have a blog? Just tell all your quilt friends about this Country Calender BOM.

Perhaps you will like to send us pictures of your blocks. We will publish these in the Photo gallery on our website and once every month on our blog.
